Name: Olivers Lodge & Restaurant
Location: Clyde, Central Otago
Typology: Extension & Alteration & Heritage Conservation
"Olivers” is located in the centre of the historic gold mining town of Clyde. It comprises a range of historic stone buildings all linked to the storekeeper, Benjamin Naylor, who established his business in the 1860s. All the buildings are Category 1 in the HNZPT Register.
The project included the preparation of a conservation plan and architectural proposals for the Lodge to provide high quality visitor accommodation. Converting the barns into a warm home full of character, complete with a new addition. The final stage involved the reinstatement of the restaurant in the old stone store and the conversion of the later commercial garage to a café and delicatessen.
